Plumpton College is delighted to announce that it will be hosting a masterclass from Francesco Pasto, Quality Manager at Oller Cassà, entitled “Cork, the smart packaging for your wines”, from 2 – 3 p.m. on Thursday 27th April in the Vintners’ Room at Plumpton Wine Centre.
This presentation is free of charge, and will deal principally with recent technological improvements in the cork industry (artificial vision, TCA cleaning systems, XR…), and the latest findings on the variability in cork sensory profile depending on origin, which will be illustrated by a tasting of three sparkling wines that have spent 72 months in bottles closed with corks of different origin.
Founded in 1892, and with a industrial unit in Reims, the Oller company is specialised in making premium-quality corks for sparkling wines. It has a supplies around 50 million pieces per year to clients including Roederer, LVMH, Bollinger, Taittinger and Laurent-Perrier.
